
Che Peter Dungan was raised for most of his life in Riverside, California. He graduated from Arlington High School with high honors in 1993. While at Arlington, he was on the Varsity Swim and Water Polo teams, excelled at Mock Trial and Academic Decathalon, and was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. After completing several Red Cross courses, Che was employed by the City of Riverside as a lifeguard. He also worked as a volunteer in the Pediatrics Ward at Riverside General Hospital.
Che then attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating and receiving his commission as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army on May 31, 1997. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in American Politics. While at West Point, Che was President of the Cadet Academic Advisory Board, which advised the Dean of Academics on cadet issues. He also was active in the Model United Nations club, and was on his unit's Class and Ring Committees. Che graduated with a 3.45 grade point average.
Lieutenant Dungan was commissioned into the Aviation Branch. Subsequently, he received flight instruction at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and graduated from Initial Entry Rotary Wing Flight Training where he earned his pilot's wings. After having been promoted to Captain, he flew armed scout helicopters such as the OH-58D Kiowa pictured below with the 10th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum, New York. He completed a tour of duty in Bosnia several years ago and then returned to the Balkans with an aviation squadron from the 10th Mountain Division as part of the NATO force for Kosovo. He applied and was accepted by UCLA's school of law and is now in his second year of law school and looking forward to working for JAG.
